Camera bag for HVX-200?
Posted by Lawrence Marshall on February 27, 2006 at 10:14 pmAnyone have a recommendation for an airline-carry-on-sized bag for the HVX-200? Hopefully something that will accomodate that nice big matte box attached to the lens? Also a compartment to hold a Senneiser short shotgun, Litepanel light, battery and charger, etc.?
Thanks, Larry M

The best part is it can roll on it’s own, or you can open the pull handle thingy stack all kinds of gear on top. Great for traveling. I use one all the time when I fly. You can order them so they are full of foam and you cut to fit. Check out the model called “foam case”

The Porta-Brace CS-DV4U, in my opinion, is just about perfect for the HVX. Camera fits very well with an ME66 attached, enough room leftover for 5 batteries, 2 wireless mics,P2 cards, P2 Store etc, etc, (including emergency “my luggage went to China” change of clothes) and will fit perfectly in the overhead compartment based on the size of my Porta-brace 600A carry-on (CO-AB- the DV4U is slightly smaller). I think there’s also enough room for a mattebox, but you should check the measure just to be sure. Looking at it in front of me, I would think there is. As always with Porta-brace, construction is top notch as well.

February 28, 2006 at 2:19 amWe purchased a Pelican Case. Almost indestructible, and watertight (if that is an issue). The foam can be customized as you see fit and it holds tons.

My question is this…has anyone found a porta brace or similar case for the P2 Store? It is difficult to carry into the field as it is. A protected carrying case with a shoulder strap would be very helpful.

February 28, 2006 at 2:53 amI actually own the Pelican 1650, but was looking for something I could hand-carry on board and throw in the overhead or under the seat. Will check out the Porta-Brace and the Porter case. Thanks all.

February 28, 2006 at 3:56 amWell my favorite is the EFP-Bag from Kata made by KATA. I think their model is an MC-61 and our. model is the EFP-BAg. I holds the camera and your laptop in the back. Has the ability to take a roller through the back so you can have wheels if you want. Holds tons of stuff.
On the smaller commuter flights I have had to hand carry the camera on the flight and put the bag into the gate check but that has been rare.
Best,
Jan

February 28, 2006 at 6:12 pmcheck out the larger petrol bag. I get camera with mattebox/follow focus and just about anything else in there. It is also a great run and gun bag.
