Camera and Hard Drive Problem
This is just strange.
I have a MacBook Pro and an I Mac…Both running OSX Leopard latest release and I am using Final Cut Studio with all of the latest updates.
I have 2 drives external and both FW 800. The first is a WD My book and the second is an IOmega.
I have 2 cameras…1 is a Panasonic DVCPRO HD and the other is a Canon GL 2 and of course both are FW 400.
My normal workflow….over the past year has been daisy the 2 HD and run 800 into the mac (either the laptop or the Imac). Then I plug my camera into the 400 port on the Iomega drive and I capture till my little heart is content….I have capped over 600 hours this way with no issues.
LAST NIGHT….WHEN I AM ON A DEADLINE….I try the MB Pro and it cannot recognize my device in log and capture so I switch to NON CONTROLLABLE DEVICE….NO LUCK THERE….so then I realize that both of my hard drives are now not recognized…..I unplug the camera and boom…there are my drives back….SO….I go direct into the FW 400 port with the camera and still no luck….This is with the panasonic….I try the canon and it works, but only if the external drives are disconnected and it goes direct to the machine….BUT THE PANASONIC WONT WORK….
So i then say screw it and go to the IMAC and guess what….SAME THING!!!!!!! Except this time the IMAC wont recognize either camera.
I am at a HUGE LOSS and I want to CRY big tears….What is going on here??
THanks in advance for all of your help
