Camcorder not capturing
The Canon camcorder I’ve been using in the past to capture digital tape shot from my DVX isn’t talking to the Mac Book Pro but the DVX is.
The G5 I normally use is in the shop so I’m daisy chaining through an Iomega 400/800 external and running the 800 cable into the Mac. When I plug in the Canon it causes the Iomega to eject without turning the camcorder on. Tried shutting everything down, hooking it up and turning everything on but without success.
Any suggestions? Thanks.

The problem likely stems from looping the camera through a drive. It often doesn’t work. You might try capturing to the internal then moving the captures later to that drive for the edit.

The MBP doesn’t have a firewire 400 input that I know about and the drive is only 230 gb. My cable is for a 400 which is why I daisy chained the whole thing. funny, it worked with the DVX for transfer but not the Canon. Any more thoughts? Thanks again.

What device control setting are you using with the Canon?

That may be the problem. I left everything default in that respect. Just finishing up the project and will check. Thanks again.

The Canon will not use the same device control setting that the DVX does… it will use the “Basic” version of the protocol.
