CalDigit HDElement enclosure with LSI controller
I’m building a RAID from some “spare” parts. I have an LSI MegaRAID SAS 9280-8e and two CalDigit HDElement SAS enclosures.
My question is, does the CalDigit enclosures require a CalDigit PCI controller + CalDigit software? My LSI controller has yet to recognize the HDDs, there can be many reasons for this, I’m just starting the troubleshooting.
But I notice the CalDigit products are only sold as a system
+ there’s an extra cable called “environmental monitor” that I’ve not seen outside of CalDigit + dipswitches to assign each enclosure to the proper CalDigit controller port. I had assumed these enclosures would support standard SAS but maybe you know otherwise? (before I spend too much time troubleshooting) -
