So I tried to use the new Cache location setting to move cache files out of the library. But what I discovered is that thumbnails and render files are failing to stay. This morning all my waveforms, render files, thumbnails have disappeared and have to be regenerated. I’ve also had weird problems the last few days with taking forever to draw waveforms and thumbnails (maybe because they were never saved?). The timeline failing to render even when it shows things unrendered.

I’m wondering if it is unadvisable to move existing cache files out of the library into an external location. So far, it’s been nothing but trouble. Has anyone seen similar problems when you start a project from scratch with externally located cache files? Does putting it on a NAS have anything to do with it?
