cache-a vtape directory offline – running ver9
Posted by Scott Tupper on July 1, 2011 at 3:26 pmLike the new integration, but this is the first time I have seen this message.
I can restore from tape but cannot archive to tape.
Cache-a firmware is up to date.
I did however have to recreate the vtape awhile ago, per Cache-a tech support, (workflow change).Should I direct this to them?
Thanks

July 1, 2011 at 3:43 pmScott send me some screen shots… and a log… likely something simple but there will be new stuff like this as this plug in goes out into the wild!

July 1, 2011 at 10:14 pmLog from CatDV (server or local) or Cache-A?
I’ll try and get that screenshot later. No errors just says nothing of nothing done.
Hope to catch up after the holiday! -

July 1, 2011 at 10:46 pmIs the plug in connecting to Cache-A? You will see a tape status while connected with a tape in the deck?

July 11, 2011 at 7:33 pmWrong directory, had the VTAPE not the Cache-A root.
It’s working now but I do see an error from the Cache-A Status Tool – Lib Status – Manage button. “error_msg = status_library library not supported.” -

July 12, 2011 at 8:45 amThat’s not an error, as Matt says it just means you don’t have the tape library hardware installed.
The Cache-A Status Tool was really only added for diagnostic purposes during development. You shouldn’t have any need to access it in normal use but it was left in in case it’s ever useful for troubleshooting.
Back to your original question, if it ever reports that the vtape directory is offline simply press Configure and then Choose to reselect the folder. It may be necessary to remount the volume, in which case bringing up the file chooser should do that for you.
