C4d & Vue 8
Hi everybody,
First of all I want to apologize for maybe describing things a bit weird. I’m quite new to 3d. So, here it goes:
I’m doing an animation for our local cinema and modelled the Logo which is 3 big spotlights pointing in the sky. I visualized the light with ‘spotlights’ searching the sky in the animation.
Then after a long search I finally found the DEM data for the Island I live on (Corfu / Greece), imported it into Vue 8, added materials, an ecosystem….. the whole bunch. Importing it into c4d didn’t really work out. When exporting the animated Spotlights from c4d to Vue, the model itself is visible but the light is missing as is the camera data…
In case anybody has an idea, please HELP.
And yeah I had this really great idea.. (not really)
I thought if I could manage to export my camera data from c4d to vue and I do 2 seperate animations with the same camera data, to composite them both in after effects… Like placing the lights on a dummy in the same position in space. Is there any chance this could work or shouldnt I even try since the render time is gonna be at least a week…Thanx a lot in advance

This is a great topic. I haven’t seen any Threads on Vue, have you? I myself just got into 3D and am using Iclone 4 Pro before I go into the big boy toys like 3ds Max and Maya. I have Vue, but it’s still kicking my butt.

Probably not what you want to hear, but have you considered Vue Xstream? Isn’t it specifically designed to combine Vue and Cinema (and other apps) scenes?

I got x-stream but it doesnt show me the atmosphere. No cloud layers, no sun/moon, no textures on the water and I have been told c4d cant handle complex models. And I created a whole Island with a length of 120 km… I tried at first to do everything inside c4d but I was dissapointed. I could have saved the money for xstream… Or is there something I dont see here??? Hardware, software… I got all the updates from what I know. I’m considering to by the workshop of asile fx on c4d integration but it isnt very specific on what I am looking for I got told… All this work and now this… It’s driving me nuts!

Hmm, I have xStream v.7 and it works fine … other than being crash-prone and dog slow. Maybe there’s something broken in the new version? Sounds like a question for e-on support.
