  • C4d rendering freezes on “Saving frame…”

I have a simple complex hallway with some cloth nurbs hanging around and lots of shadows being cast. It takes about a minute and a half for C4D to render the first frame (about 30 seconds for displacement and the other minute for the image itself), however, then C4D locks up on the “Saving frame…” stage, which occurs right after the image finishes rendering. It doesn’t advance to the next frame, it just sits and does nothing. I’ve been trying to figure the problem out procedurally for the last hour or so – turning objects on and off, as well as changing the Render Settings – antialiasing, file output type, frame size, even file output location – to no avail. Anyone have any advice?

double-check where the frames are being saved to… if the folder you specified has been moved / renamed / whatever, c4d might be having problems finding it.

may want to check your 420 settings as well… might be cranked up a bit too high.

your checklist seems like the way to go, also check for multipass, if its on, see if the destination directory is still valid. It sounds like there’s a file writing issue.

You may also want to check the length of your filename. C4D seems to have a problem with long file names, as several of us have learned the hard way.
