I’ve played around with the the settings at infinitum and I can’t seem to find a solution that prevents the hair from intersecting the geometry of the object that the hair collider tag is attached to.

    Any thoughts??

    All the best,

    Ben

In my experience it’s usually a matter of increasing the steps parameter in the hair object’s Dynamcs>Advanced tab. You may also need to increase segments — hard to say without more info.

    Adam,

I did some further tests, and I do have better success when I don’t use any values for rest hold or rest mix. Which is problematic when I need the hair to hold a specific shape after the objects collide with the collider tag collide with it.

By the way, thank you for all your responses. I seem to get more responses here on Creative Cow than any other forum.

    I don’t know it’s possible but

    In the Collider tag(s)
    – increase Friction – to 100% if the Hair doesn’t need to drag over the collider
    – use the Forces if you are not – needs Surface To Hair checked in the Hair Object/Forces tab

Hair Object/Editor – set Display to Hair Lines – easier to see what the hair is really doing in relation to the guides.

To start the hair falling later either keyframe Hair Object/Dynamics/Enable or AutoTime so you can turn off rest hold/mix

I was wondering if you ever had any luck on your previous post with the hair collider? I am trying to get a plane to sit in grass(hair) and cannot get the hair to stop “poking” through? Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks!
