C4D / AE global time-remap?
Hi,
(regarding synced time-remap style animation between c4d and AE)
I am making a cartoon style animation in after effects and cinema 4D. My workflow is as follows:
create scene in C4D with placeholder nulls where any 2D characters will go. Add effects such as particle syslems, pyrocluster smoke trails, and dynamically animated splines with Sketch shaders applied.
Then I added External Compositing tags to relevant placeholders. Finally, I output an after effects .aec scene file and render my aniamtions. Now, I import the scene into after effects and attach my 2d animated characters to the nulls. Lovely!
So here’s the thing. I want to do some time remapping style animation, where it goes from realtime to slow-mo as the camera passes certain elements, and the speeds back up to realtime.
Any ideas of how I could do this, whilst retaining the tight integration of my scenes from c4d to AE? I know I could just pre-comp everything in AE and time-remap – but then I will be relying AE’s frame interpolation. This might not look great with extreme slow-mo.
I’m stumped.. has anybody done this before, or have any ideas or pointers. By the way I am relatively new to c4d.
Kind regards
John
