    Hello-
I’m trying to animate a ‘crumple’ effect. I’ve got a simple paper airplane model and I just want to crumple the tip a little when it hits something.

I’ve tried key framing before and after crumple is applied (Structure:Edit Surface: Crumple) but I can’t get the crumple to keyframe… it crumples the entire model as if I ‘globally’ applied that.

Is there some other technique or step I should be using to be able to do this?

    Thanks

Yeah, like Matrix Extrude it’s one of those things that constructs but does not modify. Depending on what you are trying to do Crumple looks a lot like a fractal noise displacement in a material. That *can* be animated (but you can’t see it without something like DisplaceView in the discontinued Jenna).
There is also Noise Deformer https://www.welter-4d.de/fplugs/freeplugins_en.html
…and likely some obvious choices I’m not thinking of…
