C300 corruption
We’ve been doing a lot of c300 for the past few months. Have got the workflow going very well with
AMA ‘ing the footage to DNX36 in MC, cut the programs, relink to original AMA’s, transcode to DNX 175 or 220, and then send the footage over to the online suite. What we have been finding for the past couple of projects are corrupt files coming up during the original transcode session. We can go through a couple of days worth of footage with no problem and then all of the sudden we hit a stretch of footage that will either crash the Avid right out, or it will spit up an error that doesn’t kill the Avid, but it won’t transcode that particular file.
The errors happen on the same file each time, at the same location each time. If we try to play down the AMA’d version of the file, it will stop playing at the corrupt point.
We use cameras from two different sources, so we can’t narrow it down to a particular camera problem, and we usually have a DIT on site to manage the cards each day, so we can’t say it is just a bad card as we can go days without an issue.
We are starting to wonder about environmental issues. (humidity or cold temperatures have both been present on the last few shoots that had issues)
Wondering if anyone else is finding issues when transcoding.
As a note we find Resolve doesn’t have a problem transcoding the footage, but that doesn’t work for us trying to do an offline res and then relink back to the original AMA files within Avid.
