The thing I found was downconvert over firewire would only work with FCP if there was an image ‘up’ from the tape when starting everything–not being in EE mode when opening Log and Capture.

So change menu 140 OUTPUT from 0000 EE to 0001 TAPE to automatically make this happen.

Thanks for everyone’s help. I was forgetting about 894 and set it correctly. I also had to adjust 892 to return a DV signal. Oddly enough it did not matter what 880 was set on.

My problem seems to be the Avid/deck interface. Is successfully downconverted to a DV deck and to FCPro, but had no luck capturing in Avid. Has anyone had any luck with Avid Express Pro 5.7?

it works. you just need to power down and up. we’re running on avid 5.7x….works fine as both downconvert and as dvcpro hd and dvcpro 50. Sorry I can’t give you more details here because my team members are the ones working on it, but they tell me it works.
