    hi

I’m looking to buy a new laptop, possibly a G5….what’s the best one to get–is there an obvious choice? I’ll be working w/ After Effects & Final Cut Pro….(and fantasy football..:)

    Any info is appreciated…

    thanks

    Scotty

No such thing. Never will be.
Apple.com or your local Apple Store will show you the line of G4 Powerbooks now available. Rumors always abounding about updates to the current G4 Powerbook line between now and next year when the Intel based product comes out.
Go for top shelf video card, and load it up with as many GB RAM (from crucial.com and others. Much less $ than Apple-installed RAM) as you can fit in.

thanks a lot! Appreciate the response!

What would you consider a top shelf video card?

I’m about to purchase a 17″ apple , super drive laptop…any last words of caution before doing so?

If you’re going to use it for FCP I suggest you look at getting a FireWire 800 card (or SATA) and a fast/large external drive/RAID for all your media/video. A multi-button mouse and some headphones would also be recommended. Enjoy your new Mac!
