I have a G4 dual 1.42ghz machine with 2 gig of RAM, Leopard 10.5.11, FCS 2 and I’m ready to buy an new converter since the old DA MAX doesn’t do HD. Wich coverter is the best for me to buy the Blackmagic Design Multibridge Pro or the AJA IO, I mostly do SD projects but this will change soon since I already do a couple of HD proyects. Please let me know which converter is the one I should buy.

neither. You G4 is done. Buy a MAC Pro with the money you have saved, and in the future consider purchasing an AJA or Blackmagic product.

Oh come on Bob, you mean my G3 Imac won’t work….
Hey Bob have you used the AJA IOHD to convert incoming HD-SDI down to SD prores?
Would this work with a dual G5?

You can use an Aja Io, Io LA or Io LD with your G4, but those units are SD only. To use an Io HD, you’ll need to upgrade to a Mac Pro or Macbook Pro. And checking the decklink.com website, it looks like you’d need a Mac Pro to use a Multibridge Pro.

So, as Bob says, it’s time to upgrade.
