Web content can be all the way to 4K these days.

My 1st thought after reading your question was, will the editing be simple, short and easy enough for a cheap laptop to not cause insufferable pain to the owner. Can’t say until I know more but the likelihood is high, that it will. Premiere Pro is a piece of software that generally needs a fast computer, and $600 just isn’t the right budget for it.

Greg, I ordered an HP 8740 through HP’s web site for around $1800. They are selling them out to make room for the new 8760. The 8740 has multi threaded 4 core (for 8 core total) and 8 gig of RAM plus a NVIDEA 2800 cuda card! I upgraded to 16 gig or RAM for $114. They are only available until they sell out but it is about $1200 off so if you can get a loan or something it would sure make your day!

THis isnt for anything “Pro” its just for basic video editing, do i really need to spend 1,200?

See normally I would buy a MacBook or MacBookPro, but Im no longer supporting anything apple throws out. I was hopefully that a PC Laptop would be 1/2 the price.

This begs the question, why Premiere Pro then? Why not Premiere Elements, etc.? Sure you can install it on nearly anything – you can also try running 3DS Max or a VM cluster on a laptop. Will it work? To a degree.

Other than that – sure:

Video editing on a laptop has never been ideal in my opinion. But, having said that, I got a Lenovo IdeaPad V570 to do some simple editing on. It has a Core i5 & 6GB RAM. Handles Premiere and AE CS5, though it does struggle with HD footage, I can get the work done on it. It cost me $650 at Best Buy.
