[Lance Bachelder] “Walter – I think you’re talking about the Quadro 4500 – I’m talking about the 7800”

Ah yes, I am talking about the Quadro. I believe the Quadro is the card necessary to run Final Touch HD so that’s the card I’m referring to. And actually I can get that card from several resellers so it is out there if you ask for it. Tough to get, but it is there. Forgot the 7800 is a different card altogether.

We’re running our Quad with the stock card here and Motion doesn’t seem to suffer all that much.

You’re not going to like the transition from Media 100. It willtake you several months to unlearn your workflow habits and another two or three months to try to figure out what the heck Apple was thinking.

After that, you’ll love working with FCP.

Ignore what all these other bozos are telling you and listen to THIS bozo: forget the G5, wait for the Intel desktops. You can load up FCP4.5 on your old G4 and it will work fine for a few months while you run the FCP tutorials and try to learn the new products.

The 7800 will also run Final Touch at the same speed for 1/5th the price as the Quadro. Not saying the stock 6600 card is slow – just that the 7800 is much faster is every situation:

Thanks I just passed this on to Silicon Color. They were the ones who told me the Quadro was necessary to run Final Touch HD on the Quad.

What the BOZO’s are tellin him, is (did you see that he is using someone elses computer? and needs one to continue?)

We BOZO’s who need to work NOW have one choice- a Quad G5 —- When the Intel towers ship – That is another story.

    Here’s another bozo’s two cents:

Do NOT wait for any intel dreamchip B.S., and buy your hardware and software now, all at once and don’t try to buy stuff in bits and pieces. If you’re ready to actually edit, of course.

you could also buy a used system off of ebay/craigslist for less money, to use until you can afford an intel, when the come out!
