Buy a p2 store for file transfer or wait for the Panasonic Card Reader?
I have a big job coming up in May and will need to access my footage faster that firewire will allow from just plugging in my HVX and mounting it like a drive.
I found a P2 Store for 400 bucks in good condition. Is this a good tool to transfer my data to my external drives or am I better of waiting for the new Panasonic Card Reader? I don’t know too much about the P2 store, except that 400 seems pretty cheap…
Sounds the Panasonic reader is around 350?

Definitely wait- the P2 Store was a great stopgap for its day of several years ago. But it’s been supplanted by far more efficient and user-friendly technology now. If not the Panasonic reader the Sonnett Qio:

The Panasonic P2 Store does work as a card reader. Problem is, at least with Macs, it takes about an hour per 16GB card, it is glacially slow. Perhaps it is better with PCs?

We have had better luck with the P2 store and using just to transfer Data. 1GB=1 min on Macs (tower and laptop).
Since you found it so cheap it might (maybe) be worthwhile to go for the p2 store (as redundant it has become), it might still have use as an emergency back up system.
I would go for the p2 store becasue if you demo the new product and love it, you can always sell it for $350 and find a buyer (IMHO).
