  Buttons don’t highlight until menu has looped once

  I have created a DVD project, the first play is a menu intro, followed by a menu screen with 6 buttons (created in Photoshop). After the intro has played out, the DVD jumps to the menu but none of the buttons are highlighted until the menu has done one loop.
  The menu is animated so thumbnails play.
