    I just upgraded to FCP 5 , G5, tera drive,radeon 9800 card, etc.
I use to click on the box of cross hairs to the left of the expandable bar on the very bottom of the timeline to expand and contract the time line. I almost never use the magnifier glass button. Anyway when I click in this area in FCP 5 it does not work, it even appears to be “grayed out”. I have to go over to the tool bar and click on the magnifier, and constantly change it from plus to minus. This is a pain and not the way I worked in 4, Any clues to getting this area working again??

Also, to eliminate the livetype black halo around type I would go into item properties in FCP and click on black for the alpha instead of straight and that would give it a nice clean edge. when I apply the same technique in FCP 5 the type flickers and doesn’t stop. Is their a new work around for getting rid of the black halo in FCP 5.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

use the Z keyto bring up the magnifying glass. Shift+Z to see the whole timeline. Try the “h” key with the timeline selected and you’ll get the hand tool. Use keyboard shortcuts and you will be able to edit without a mouse in no time.
