  “busy rendering” bar has vanished

  AE 2018 15.00 Win 7 has been working well for quite some time now, but suddenly it started being slow to boot and now the render bar in the comp view that tells you its thinking about the next frame (not the green progress caching bar in the timeline) isn’t showing up. It still renders that frame but no indication that its thinking.
  I’ve trashed the prefs and cleared the baffles and restarted everything. No change.
