  • Burred text in FCP 4.5 – help!

Posted by Darren Ebert on July 11, 2005 at 9:11 pm

I am using the text generator in FCP to generate some still text lines. I drag the text clips to the overlay to place it in the timeline. Then I go to the timeline and when I hit playback the text blurs quite noticeably. When playback is stopped text regains clarity. Why is this? Thanks for helping out a newbie.

Try viewing the text on a video monitor instead of your computer. Hook up your camera/deck and a video moniotor.

The Canvas is quite low rez and you only see what your CPU is capable of throwing up into it. Detail is sacrificed in the Canvas for other capabilities.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

This is a program that will be distributed via the web, meaning it will not be viewed on any monitors. So, does this mean that the text I use will not be clear, ever?

Try compressing a short quicktime sample. I think you’ll find it will be clear after it is exported.

If I understand bogiesan correctly, the limitations to the canvas are only for real-time viewing in FCP.

    Thanks,
    Gary

Render out a clip and then transcode it to your online format.
    You’ll figure it out.
