March 9, 2009 at 9:59 pmIn my experience, the shorter record times take longer to finalize. I did a 5 min output that took 10 min to finalize. Still quicker than authoring a DVD via Compressor and DVD SP…by far. And then a 105 min output to DVD took 2 min to finalize.
I too am using a Panasonic DVD recorder, hooked up to a Kona or MXO…whatever I have at the time.

March 9, 2009 at 10:09 pm[Ernie Santella] “With an external DVD Burner, it’s a total Manual operation. Park your sequence timeline at the head. Hit record on your Burner, hit play on FCP. That’s it. Hit stop on the Burner at the end of your FCP sequence.

March 10, 2009 at 12:13 am[walter biscardi] “The less we record on a DVD, the longer to finalize.”
the reason for that is the extra compatability of having at least 1GB of data
even if that data is dummy data to fool the player.for some reason you have to have at least 1gb of data written to a disc
or a player may not recognize it as valid.thats why finalizing is variable time taking depending on how long the program.

March 12, 2009 at 7:22 pmit was just like everyone said, press the record button. I later checked my DVD in a different DVD player with a different monitor and my picture was completely blown out. I checked the monitor with a regular DVD and it looked fine. The NTSC and HD monitor hooked up to my computer showed perfect color as it was recording. Any ideas?
