Activity Forums Adobe Premiere Pro Burning fuse question…

  • Burning fuse question…

I’m using PP 2.0 and I am very new to this program. I’m trying to have a burning fuse move from left to right near the bottom of the screen, and have it be on top of a collage of other vid clips and images and so forth. (Mission Impossible intro theme)

I have created a spark using Trapcode’s Particular and created a title in Premiere that is a line (fuse). Using Premiere, I have successfully matched the movement of the spark from left to right, to the fuse.
I have rendered the sequence containing those two elements to an avi, but when I try to overlay this fuse and spark over another video, it doesn’t work. I either see the test vid clip, or the fuse and spark track, depending on which clip is above the other in the timeline. Like, the transparency isn’t there or something. I’m totally missing something here, I know.
I’m almost certain I’m going about producing this all wrong, so I figured I’d start in this forum to try to gain some insight.

    Thanks all!

Likely the problem is that your rendered .avi’s do not have an alpha channel. Export as uncompressed!
    File>Export>Movie>Settings>General=Microsoft AVI (not DV).
    Video>Compressor=None
    Color Depth= Millions+ of colors

The + supplies the alpha channel.

Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you! That’s what did the trick! I had to re-render the sparks avi from AE using these same settings – uncomp avi w/ mmillions+, then bring it into Premiere, match it up with the fuse, render them to uncomp avi w? millions+, and BINGO!

    Now I can move on…

Thanks again! The Cow rocks so hard!

Hi, I am trying to do the same thing as you – a video overlay of the burning fuse (mission impossible intro) for a grad video. I am kind of new to this. Do you by chance have a tutorial on how you created the overlay?
    Thanks
