  • Burning an HD DVD or BlueRay Project. Need a special drive?

Can I just burn it off my regular burner I have now, or do I need a special HD DVD burner or Blue Ray burner,

I just pop in either a Blue Ray disc or HD DVD disc in my burner and it will work, really?

Can I really play back an HD DVD or BlueRay on my mac?

    You need a special burner.

    Nope. Sorry.

Not unless you have an internal Blu-Ray or HD-DVD player in your Mac.

There are some packages that will allow you to author/burn “basic” HD-DVD Folders to regular DVD

[George W.] “here are some packages that will allow you to author/burn “basic” HD-DVD Folders to regular DVD?R/RW discs — and these discs can be played back in the Toshiba HD-DVD Units. Ulead’s DVD MovieFactory comes to mind, and there are others…”

DVD Studio Pro can as well.

Be sure you use uncompressed pcm audio though, or you won’t have sound on the Toshiba player. Also the player needs to have firmware prior to 2.0 for dvd studio pro authored discs to work.
