Hi, I am hoping to create some transitions similar to the ones in this building projection movie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pi68pauvkpw inside after effects. The first at 4.25 where it dissolves, down, looks like a fractal displacement, and the second at 5 min mark where what looks like 3 D blocks, if any one could suggest after effects workflow to create similar I would be most grateful. Thank you.

The first transition could be done with a plugin like Particular — let the layer emit particles, then manipulate them with the physical forces.

The second transition is harder to accomplish in Ae. You could do something like it with the Shatter effect and a custom shatter map, but that sort of effect really calls for a true 3D application like Maxon Cinema 4D.
