I just imported some HDV footage through Vegas, and after the import it hung up on 72% building peaks for the first clip. In fact, I had to do an “end program” to exit Vegas. When I reopened it, same deal.
I tried deleteing the sfk file associated with it, but when i opened the project it got to 72% and it froze again.

my next step is to reimport the footage, assuming that there is something corrupt in the file, but has anyone experienced this? I hope it’s not something wrong on the miniDV tape because having to reshoot is going to be complicated.

    I’ll report with the results…

re-import the footage and see if this persist, then report back…..
But before you do, make sure you restart your computer and that
no other program is running while you import.

    I doubt its your footage.
You sure you have plenty of free space for the peaks to write?
I’ve seen this occur at various percentages, often times rebooting, reimporting works.

Well, I rebooted and reimported and the second time it worked fine.

Even though I was running a browser during import, I think it might have been more that I was importing to the OS drive, I forgot to switch the setting for the HDV import settings(i usually work with the DV importer app).

So the second time I also set it to import to the external USB drive, and had no programs running. The strange thing is that there were no dropped frames on yesterday’s import, but I guess that is not the only thing that can go wrong in an import.

    Thanks guys
