Im am about to purchase some new equipment to build a DIT station that can utilise davinci resolve. I am trying to cater for predominately Red Epic and Arri alexa workflows. I think I’m nearly there but have a bit of trouble with pci slot availability and if anyone has had similar probs or knows a solution that would be great

    Here is my equip list:

-MAC PRO 2.4ghz 6core intel xeon
    -ATI radeon 5770
    -nvidia quadro 4000 (for davinci)
-Black magic deck link studio 2
    -RED Rocket
    -Hp ZR2440W LED Monitor
    -JVC DT-V24G1 24″ monitor

-Atto express pcieSAS SATA 8Port ext
    -G tech G speed es pro 12GB

So my questions/problems are I don’t think there is enough card slots for all I need, What can be done about that? also I would like to get esata connectivity for the Red card reader so maybe i shouldn’t go down the sas raid route.

    Any Opinions

Check the Blackmagic Resolve configuration guide.

It is available as a pdf from their Resolve download site.

you may want to use expander as talked here or in config guide.

also look into better gpu. loose the ati and use 4000 as gui and have something beefier
for gpu. also look around here it is talked a lot.

also consider to have faster and cpu with more cores. weak machine will respond slower
and also will not be as good with red stuff.

you also may want to consider that maybe next year there will be new mac pro.
if your machine will be written off by then then it seems fine.
otherwise you may feel sorry afterwards.

some people build their system on win for that reason.
