    Hello,
I am trying to build a non realistic lens flare where I can place any kind of shape. So I build in 3D a bar to which are circles are parenting. And I want a Null object to control the X and Y axis of the bar. But it seems to not ork properly, like the bar move way to much. Ideally as the Null object moves in Z axis, the bar could also follow that, but I think this is going to far then…

    here is the project:

I don’t have the slightest idea what you are trying to say here, but have you checked my tutorial here at the COW? It provides several tricks and all the expressions for setting up a halfway realistic lensflare. If you replace the elements with your designs, you should be getting what you need.

    Hi Mylenium,
Yes I have seen your tutorial. I don’t need that rendering quality as there is in your project. Other problem is that your project is taking so long to render on my G5 dual CPU. I am more interested in the motion of the layers than a render.
Here is a project that I am working on to which I want to add a lens flare, but no nlur or gradient, more flat lens flare instead.

Yeah, I think I know what you are getting at. Still, my project seems a good point to start. Since you don’t seem to need any of the fancies, you could simply strip them from the file… The project is only so slow because it uses lots of layers and passes through the blendmodes using the collapse transformations switch, but for your purposes you could turn that off entirely. If you can post an image of the flare as you imagine it, I might find a few minutes to adjust my project accordingly and provide it to you.

    Hello Mylenium,
thank you for responding. I am indeed looking for something very simple, no glow bo blur. But the move of the lens flar is what I am looking for. I am a little confused over your file, as I couldn’t find out if your project is built in a 3D space.
But I posted a shape (super simple) of what I am looking for.
    it’s there on my ftp:
