    Hello!

I’m new to final cut but have used quite a few other editing packages before. to begin with, ive found the help file useless because if i search for a string with two words in it it only looks for parts in the help file where those two words are together. how do people use this help file for something like this?

also, is there a way to play an edit without having to build a preview everytime? is there a way of disabling render, or a way to render the files out in the correct project format within final cut so a render isn’t required?

    thanks for any help guys!

Sounds like your sequence settings don’t match the properites of the source material.

i.e. what format are you working with? If DV, then the sequence settings should also be DV. That way you shouldn’t have to render just to play back unless you’ve added filters or effects that require it.

You can also use “unlimited” as an RT setting set from the Timeline window’s RT button in the upper left side of the Timeline Window which opens up more real time playback of unrendered effects.
