Build BluRay Disc(Mac)
Posted by Nick Xanttopulos on July 11, 2007 at 11:38 pmI have the new Encore and have tried many times to burn a bluray disc. Everything tests great, but when I want to build a disc, it works for a long time, and when it goes to burn the disc the program quits or comes up with one of a thousand error messages and ruins the blank BD-R. I have the Sony 100A burner (Internal) with sony blank discs. Everything looks like it should work, so this is very frustrating and blank bd-r’s are not cheap. Any thoughts?

July 13, 2007 at 11:52 pmDo you have any other programs running while trying to burn? or possibly some auto update, antivirus, screensavers, etc. Lots of things can interrupt what would be a successful burn. I don’t have blue ray yet, but just a thought.

July 16, 2007 at 12:15 pmHave you tried building an ISO file (blu-ray disc image)?
I had the same issues as you, then tried producing an ISO file, which worked, and burned the blu-ray disc from the ISO file on a Windows computer.

WE have the exact same issue here using a FastMac (Panasonic) Blu-Ray burner. We wasted three Blu-Ray discs today on our Mac Pro and all Adobe could do for us was to send a long laundry list of things to try to fix it. Encore is VERY unstable here when trying to burn a BluRay disc and we’re getting really frustrated with it.

August 2, 2007 at 11:14 amSo I’m assuming you haven’t gotten Encore to burn a Blu Ray correctly yet? We purchased Toast and were able to get an ISO file to burn to the disc and will be trying it out in a Blu Ray player today.
But still can’t get anything to burn within Encore.

February 28, 2008 at 2:39 pmI’m having the same issues–Encore will make an .iso but won’t burn the disc. Fortunately I’m using a -RE to avoid the expensive coasters. I burned the .iso in Toast but it does not play in Blu-ray set-top (rated at -R and -RE compatible–many aren’t) or PS3. Check out this article from someone who’s made it work: https://www.rcgrabbag.com/?p=565 and my comments at bottom about it not working for me. Frustrating!
