So I’ve spent a fair amount of work trying to add interest to a few very complex graphs, and I came across this video presentation, which I like (I am in no way associated with these folks); in the first graph, there’s a floating bubble with the data that I really want to emulate

    https://goldprice.org/video/why-invest-in-gold.html

There are other parts, but what I need to know is how to craft the floating bubble with a single variable point.

I know how to set up the graph, craft the bubble, fill in the numbers, etc. I also know how to set up something similar using “beam”, but it’s not what I need, although I could eventually arrive at a workable output.

What I need is 1 point of a mask to be controlled by my graph data which doesn’t necessarily have to be expression controlled, if there’s a way to paste my info into that single mask point.

Or – if someone has insight, I’d love to hear it. I foresee a lifetime of working with graphs, and the better I can present them where they are actually of interest, the better.

There was a script from nabscripts named “maskPointsExpression.jsx” that did what you wanted but alas his site is no longer online, but…

there is a similar script that should do what you want, named “Connect_Vertex_to_Point.jsx “, here:

    https://www.crgreen.com/aescripts/ie/

Just download the jsx file and drop it into you AE Scripts folder, then open AE, and you find it under File>Run>Script…

I have no expertise or detail on the second script as I’ve never used it, although the description fits your problem.

Thanks Mike – I’ll try this today! Looks like there are some other nice things (and work) there as well!

    Bookmarked!

I appreciate it. The description does sound like what I need!
