brushes
Posted by Ricardas Tube on May 26, 2007 at 8:15 pmHi guys!
I’m quite a newby in AF7.
I can’t get my head around one issue:
can i use my photoshop brushes to paint in after effects, and how can
i achieve this?
Thanks!

May 26, 2007 at 9:56 pmYou cant use Photoshop brushes in AE. After Effects does have a built in non-destructive paint system, however.

Take a look at this post to see how you can achieve some ‘texture’ in a standard brush stroke:

Also, you could apply the techniques from Andrew’s tutorial on light strokes to use a custom brush shape, by using a particle emitter:

May 27, 2007 at 7:51 pmWell, it depends really:
if your brush is just a special shape, you can export a psd file with just one brush-dab on a transparant layer, and use the particle system trick outlined in the tutorial.
Even some scattering/splattering randomizing features could be mimicked using clever emitter settings. But true shape dynamics recorded from a wacom pen are out of the realm of possibilities.
Can you post an example still from photoshop to illustrate what effect you’re after ?
