How do i make it so i can see the brush shapes as pictures rather than all these files

Then THIS is what you need:
simply click on the (very) small cogwheel on the top right of the brush panel and pick whatever option you prefer. The top screenshot you posted probably only has the “brush tips” selected.Cheers!
