    Hi everyone, I’m trying to get some old footage off an LTO4 tape. In BRU PE it’s not in the list of archives, so what I would normally do is use the Import Tool. However, the Import Tool gives me the following error:

    “Can’t rename catalog file

    usage: mv [-f | -i | -n] [-v] source target
    mv [-f | -i | -n] [-v] source … directory”

    How do I get my data off this tape?

    BRU PE Version 2.2.0, (Build 403)
    BRU Version 17.1.0

    This is something that you should take up with our support team (support.tolisgroup.com), but I’d start by updating your BRU PE version to 2.3.7. There’s a reason that all of the upgrades occurred between the versions.

    Otherwise, you don’t need the catalogs to restore the data from a tape, you just can’t do it from within the PE GUI. Again, our support team is the best place to start for help with BRU PE.

    Thanks for the quick response, Tim. Unfortunately your support team wants $220 before they’ll even talk to me, according to your website. Is this the only way to resolve this problem?

    Since this is a restore issue, submit a ticket as a DEMO customer and indicate it’s for restore.

    Also, be sure to update to the newer BRU PE 2.3.7 since I promise you that will be the first step.
