Has anyone else had a problem where it is impossible to scroll down to see all items in the Browser? If all my items are not visible in my browser at one time, I have to close all folders in order to see items at the bottom of the list, which is odd. This is in Final Cut 5 and I’ve never had this problem in 4.5.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Upper left-hand corner.
    Three “dots” (buttons).
    Click the third (right) one.
The Browser should jump to the correct (and scrollable) size.

The first thing to always try is to Quit FCP, Restart the Mac, Open your FCP project and try again.

    Next:
THE FOLLOWING COMES FROM THE KEN STONE WEBSITE:
“Over 5,000 years ago Confucius wrote: ‘If you are toiling away, you have changed nothing and FCP heads South on you, [starts behaving in strange ways] then it is time to trash your FCP Preferences.’ ”

Click the following link for instructions.

A great way to do this is to use “FCP Rescue” a free Apple Script that will Trash the Preferences for you (and restore nearly all of your user settings afterward).
There are versions for FCP (Pro) & FCE (Express) and a new one for FCP 5.

Download these free Apple Scripts at

This is one FCP tip that has helped in solving hundreds of “odd” problems.

Good idea. I’ll see if that helps. Unfortunately, this has been a problem since we ‘opened the box’, but I’ll keep my fingers crossed anyways.

I don’t think the above quote was inspired by Confucius, but rather an observation by Dze-kung while rambling about south Kh

Just for the record, the preferences trashing did help – I just didn’t think I had incurred that need after only one week of mild use. Thank you very much.

    Maria,

There is no logic to anything related to problems arising out of corrupted prefs, so no amount of thinking about it will do any good. When FCP starts behaving as though its possessed, just trash your prefs without hesitation. 98% of the time you’ll find things are fixed.

Maria, don’t feel bad, I had the same problem with FCP 5 out of the box (and on a new computer) as well. It finally resolved itself when I trashed my preferences – the funny thing is that I trashed preferences for other issues I was having and never related trashing the preferences to being able to scroll down all the way in the browser.
