Activity Forums Adobe After Effects Expressions Brownian Motion

I’m trying to create a simulation of Brownian motion.
Basically I need a number of small circles (20-30) bouncing around an area with about 3 larger circles. On any collision the circles bounce off each other.

I’ve made a fairly successful version in flash by adapting some actionscript I found:
    https://www.emanueleferonato.com/2007/08/19/managing-ball-vs-ball-collision-with-flash/
However, I’m having a fair bit of trouble actually getting that into a useable video form (because it’s generated dynamically and there’s actually nothing on the stage), and it also has a problem with particles getting stuck to each other.

I thought I’d give it a go in After Effects, as the scripting is very similar, but I’m not really having any luck. If I could get any pointers, or perhaps suggestions of a plug-in which will achieve a similar effect. I’ve had a go with Particle Playground and Particular, but they both have limitations I can’t get past.

I’m using Flash MX 2004 and AECS3, but we should have CS4 Prod Premium soon, so if there’s an easier way with anything in that then I’ll happily wait. Also have Blender if anyone can throw any suggestions that way.

Please ask if you’d like any more info.

    Thanks.
