My “New” DI decided to just transfer the numbered folders inside the CLPR folder and nothing else. The 2 .xml files and the TAKR folder have been deleted. It seems like all of the info is there but I can’t get it to show up in FCP or XDCAM transfer? any suggestions

    Thanks,
    Joe

Gah- how do stupid people get hired for the DIT position with no respect for data? That’s like someone pulling the tape out of a cassette box and then tossing the box, or opening a can of film. What exactly is left? What happens when you try to load it with Sony’s utility software?

Joe, Sony solved already jour problem. On a Mac, do this: make a new folder and name it BPAV. Inside this folder make folder named CLPR. Place the numbered folders inside the CLPR folder. Now open XDCAM EX Clip Browser. In the explorer window look for your new BPAV folder. XDCAM EX Clip Browser ‘sees’ the folder and repairs it for you. Quit XDCAM EX Clip Browser. Now you can use XDCAM transfer or FCP to import the clips.

XDCAM Transfer 2.12 will recognize ‘orphaned’ .mp4 files, so you can gather all these in one folder and add that folder as a source in Transfer.

Failing that you can also use Clip Browser to ‘heal’ or re-register the files and build a new BPAV. If the method outlined in the previous post does not work you can manually import the files to a new folder. This will rebuild all the metadata.
