Broadcast Safe filter
I’ve been reading a lot of post lately saying that the broadcast safe filter doesn’t always work after you render. So what’s the deal here…does it work or not? Usually when I color correct, I first use the 3 way to get everything close, and then I apply the broadcast safe filter at the default settings to softly clip any highlights and excessive chroma. I am scoping everthing externally and it seems to be working the way it should. I just get nervous reading all these posts. By the way, I am working in HD 1080i prores.

As Dave said, you are doing the right thing by getting it right in CC. However, I have used that same workflow and found that after render, the broadcast safe is letting spikes of luma through which looked safe on the scopes before render. That was true for me using uncompressed so it is not a compressed codec issue.
The RGB limiter so far has proven to be reliably clipping after render. That said, I am ordering my new Macpro soon so that I can get into Color where proper clipping can be trusted.
