Broadcast monitor vs Pro Video monitor (not consumer TV)

Sorry guys, but would a cheap broadcast monitor like the Panny below (with blue only & HD-SDI but only 720p) or basic Sony (but 1080p & HDMI) for under 1K be worth it over say the Panny Plasma 42″ I listed in original post? If so, is it better to have 1080 or blue only and pro inputs like the Panasonic.

Is there anyone out there that does consulting work and could make some recommendations for me? What your rates are?

16 GB of RAM with OSX on SSD, (2) internal HDDs RAID’d 1 for project files and External RAID 5 for all project assets (media, GFX, stills, etc.)

lol Shane! Me Too! Paid $ 800 for my 14″ and STOLE the 19″ for $ 1500
in a liquidation of assets sale 8 years ago.

ha ha Tim, I had the 19″ version prior to switching it out for the PVM.

Really puzzled me why it had higher resolution but only did SD.

Matt, I would go with the panasonic plasma.

I know that this model: TH-42BT300U is considered reference
grade and meets or exceeds specifications for broadcast spec accuracy.

You would definitely want it calibrated by an ISF specialist though.

Thx Chris. I saw that model but unfortunately that puts me back to square one, cost. Can’t afford 3k, since I still have buy I/O too. I might be able to get 1500 or 2k for a monitor but still only puts me in the 720p range. Although that’d fsi is only about 500 more at 2500.
