  • Bringing in an AE project that is linked to a premiere project

Posted by Matt Chapman on September 6, 2014 at 12:30 am

    Hi all-
I am helping a friend out who needs some AE work done. The project he gave me is an AE project media managed, but the media that is in it is a Premiere Project, not individual files. I have the premiere project and opened it just fine, but when I load the AE project it says the premiere project is missing. How do I re-link the timeline footage to the Premiere Project!?

    Thanks!

Is it done with Dynamic Link or were they just imported from a Premiere project?

If it is Dynamic Link, once you’ve re-saved the Premiere project (ideally to a new filename so you don’t overwrite the original), try linking to that instead of the old one.

If it was just imported from a Premiere project (so that each cut is its own layer on the timeline [which I find much easier to work with, by the way]), simply find the media for one of those files and all the rest should automatically be found.
