When working in Adobe Premiere Pro version 7.0 specifically, how do you brighten a video clip (whether in your bin or timeline?).

I’m using the following method which isn’t working because I get stuck:
1.) go to Project Bin – “Effects”
    2.) go to Video Effects
    3.) go to Adjust
4.) go to Brightness & Contrast
5.) click and drag the little plug-looking icon onto the clip in the timeline
6.) Stuck – because nothing happens from here, no additional window or anything, just a red line at under the counterbar.

    Please help!!

Once you have added an effect to a clip you can go to the Effect Controls Window to manipulate the parameters of the effect.

Search the Help for “Effect Controls” and you will get the instructions you need.

You will also find links to many free tutorials in the PremiereProPedia that will quickly show you how things are done in Premiere Pro.

Thanks for responding Eddie. I am looking to adjust the Brightness however. The Effects Control is in the clip monitor and only has Motion and Opacity for visual effects.

Again, this is for 7.0 version.

Does anyone have any advice please?

    Thanks!

All effects that have adjustable parameters will appear in the Effect Controls Window after you add them to a clip.

If the “Brightness & Contrast” effect is not working for you then use the “Adjust” effect. Details are on page 269 of the Premiere Pro user guide.
