It looks like a stuck pixel. Try the sensor cleaning mechanism in camera a few times. If it still persists, you’ll want to take it in for inspection.

You’re not gonna want to hear this…but you might have a pixel dead on your chip. You’ll need to return it to Sony.

I would probably have the sensor cleaned first to see if that helps.

If its really a dead pixel, sensor cleaning won’t probably help much. Try this: Switch off the camera. Remove the lens. Put the cap of the camera on. Switch on the camera. In the menu activate manual lens cleaning. Wait a couple of seconds (10 – 30) then switch off the camera. This should map out dead pixels.
Dead pixels are not uncommon and you don’t have to worry about them.

Hi there everyone. I just read all the post because I’ve had the same problem with my 5D mark3. I followed the instruction of the manual sensor cleaning and now seems the red dot is gone. BUT! I was recording the previous week a lots of scenes for our short web series and every recordings has this red dot. My question is if its possible to get rid of this in post production or I have to re shoot everything again?
