Bright Frames when Rendering WEIRD
Alright. I have never had this problem before but since switching to Apple and CS3 I have been getting weird bright frames at random when rendering. They actually render out too. This is extremely frustrating and I hope someone else out there knows what the hell I am talking about. Thanks in advance.

Are you using Open GL to render? If you are, don’t. Otherwise I’m not familiar with the problem.

Hi,
Are you using the Multiprocessing option? If so disable it in the preferences menu. This may help especially if you are using a 3rd party plug-in.

No I am just doing simple masking techniques and luma keying with some color correction. All AE plugins no third party ones. I am running AE CS3 on an Apple running Mac OS X. Its a dual quad core (intel) with 5gb of ram. Even after I changed the settings from, Multiprocessing to not, I was still seeing the bright frames. That is until I made a tiny adjustment in my composition and then had to ram preview again. Then it was gone. I am pretty well versed in AE but since the move from PC to Apple and from AE 7 to AE CS3 theres been a lot of things that just work differently that I have had to get used to. Thanks again for everything.

Sorry to jump in here at the end of the thread, but I just caught it.
I also have experienced “bright frames”. I was using the Keylight plug-in to key HD footage.
Is the multiprocessor option problem a bug to be addressed by Adobe or is it something that we have to live with?
The multi-processor feature really helps in CS3 performance so I’d hate to have to sacrifice this option.Thanks for your help.

Paul, This is a bug that happens on both platforms. I assume that Adobe is aware of it and would release a patch. The problem is that Adobe doesn’t come out with a single patch so we may have to wait until they correct a bunch of bugs…
I personally switched this feature permanently off as I never know if it would work properly or not and re-rendering missing frames or entire movies when you have a deadline is not an option I am willing to adopt.

This may not always work but until I found out that this was a bug within the Multiprocessing option, I would just add about a five to ten frame handle on both the head and tail of the clip. This always worked for me since the bright frames usually happened near the beginning of the clip. I know its a work around but if you have to use use it this might work. As for me… I have just completely disabled it all together like Serge suggested. Works for me but might not for everyone.

Good ol’ Adobe. I guess I’ll turn off the feature until Adobe releases a patch; or try the the adding handles to clip trick.
