Yesterday I attended a local trade show where I found some wonderfully helpful Sony employees. I asked what the BPAV folder name stood for and today I got an official reply:

“In regards to your question on BPAV, I have had it explained to me that the BP stands for Broadcast and Professional (the name of the design group) and AV stands for Audio and Video files. BPAV identifies a Pro user folder for AV content… I don’t have anything “official” from the factory on this but this is what marketing is telling me….”

Thanks so much to Brian Young, Sony Canada’s marketing manager for acquisition products for this welcomed information.

I think you mean anagram? Maybe Brian could clarify 🙂

I probably should have said “anachronim” (singular) but there’s no spelling for that in the dictionary.

Acronym. That Sony explanation beats anything I could come up with on short notice. Part of it is that I’m not sarcastic about these cameras or the workflow, I’m quite satisfied.

That’s the word I was looking for. Thanks, Clint.
