Hi to all, i was wondering if anyone has come accross this before i bought final cut studio 3 which is for an intel mac unfortunatley my G5 mac is not an intel mac and the software will not load on to my system.

I can’t take the software back to the place where i bought it either.
any thoughts on this would be great.
    regards

As you have discovered, FCS3 isn’t compatible with PowerPC-based Macs (not entirely surprising, since all of their products have been Intel-based for the last 5 years). Unfortunately, there is no way to run FinalCut Studio 3 on your older hardware.

Since you can’t return the software, your alternatives are:
    1. Sell your FCS3 software, and continue using what you’ve got, or
    2. Sell your G5 and get a new (or new-ish) Intel Mac.

The individual applications are all Universal Binary and will run on PPC.

If you are in a real bind financially and can\’t return it or sell it, the install can be hacked and the software will run. Can\’t vouch for how well it will perform in real editing. I tried it just out of curiosity when I retired my G5, and it did work. Use Google to search for instructions…we don\’t really discuss hacks on the Cow. I don\’t recommend doing this if you are using FCP professionally, but the answer is out there.
