Bought a NAS, need guidance with getting the most speed out of it.
Hey everyone!
I just bought a QNAP TVS-871 and programed it to be RAID 6. But I’m getting AWFUL speeds transferring projects (mostly FS7 footage).
Now I know my NAS does support this 10GbE adapter but the two computers I want to connect it to only have 1Gb ports (2013 Mac Pro trashcan & 5k iMac).
I was wondering if anyone knows how I could get fast enough speeds to edit directly off of this NAS?

1) buy the 10G card
2) connect it to a 10G switch
3) your problems will go away.
If you expect to have your 2 computers on the 1G network get good speeds (and you are shooting 4K Sony F7 footage), you are just fooling yourself.Bob Zelin

the equipment I suggested is very inexpensive. I am sure that Cafeteria would have no issue buying this additional equipment to make things work correctly.

If I could be forward enough to ask a further question:
1 – Would you recommend a Thunderbolt to 10GbE converter?
2 – If yes, would I be able to connect both the Mac Pro & iMac to it? Or would they each need an individual converter?Thanks.
