  • Both mono audio tracks not available when editing from a sequence to a sequence CS5.5

Here’s what I would like to do:

Create a sequence with one video track and two audio tracks (mono – 1 channel interview and the second channel nat sound mic).

Put that sequence in the source window and edit from that to the timeline.

    Here’s what happens:

No matter whether I make a mono or stereo sequence, I am unable to have audio channels 1 and 2 available to edit separately.

On the sequence I use to edit from that is mono, I can only choose Audio 1. I can open that on the timeline and switch the A1 to track 2 but that means I need to do that every time I want to edit in a different channel to my timeline sequence?

On the sequence I use to edit from that is stereo, I can only edit a stereo clip.

If I put a clip in the source window, I can choose between A1 and A2 and this is what I would like to do but with a sequence!

My footage is from an EX-1 and when I brought it into the bin, I went to Modify/Mono to the audio.

Is this an issue with 5.5? Do I need to get 6 or CC?

    Thanks.

    Try this –

Right click on a clip (you can do this in batches as well).

Go to MODIFY -> AUDIO CHANNELS.

set NUMBER OF AUDIO TRACKS to 2,

    CHANNEL FORMAT to ADAPTIVE,

    click PRESERVE CHANNEL ASSIGNMENTS,
ACTIVE CHANNELS PER TRACK TO 1
Set SOURCE CHANNEL LEFT to Audio 1, Ch. 1
Set SOURCE CHANNEL RIGHT to Audio 2, Ch. 2

Then save the preset. Don’t ask me why or how, I’m a PPr newbie myself. I do have a pretty good background in audio editing and this was driving me crazy as well. I’m sure a veteran will have a better answer.

    Henry:

Thanks so much for response. However, I think this is a fix for CS6 or CC and I have CS5.5 at the moment.
