  • Boris Style Palette question

Posted by Patrice Freymond on August 31, 2009 at 3:12 pm

    Hi everyone,

I had a look at related posts but none answers my question:

I use Boris Title 3D in FCP to do a Write On effect. The show is weekly so we reuse font and all other text aspects.

When I save the font in the Font thumbnail of Boris style palette a file is created in the Application Support folder of Boris as expected.
But when I save a style in the Text thumbnail, with all attributes ticked, a new style appears in the style window but no file is created in the appropriate folder and I lose the style when shutting down the Edit system.

I’d like to save those styles and move them from one suite to another. Any ideas?

    thanks

    Patrice

PS: I know I could do this in Motion but it would be overkill as this particular function of Title 3D does exactly what I need with the quality I need and render times I can live with

The works for me. Are you sure you have proper admin read/write premissions. The file should be in HardDrive/Library/Application Support/BorisFX/Text Styles. It has a blank icon with the name of the style you saved.

    All the best,

Thanks for your answer. Admin rights could be an issue as the system is on a san and has been recently installed. But I notice that all folders in the Boris Application Support folder have same read/write access…. and the Font one does save my selection. weird….

I’ll keep investigating and post results

    ’twas operator error after all.

I don’t do much titling and was assuming Boris was saving when in fact I was not asking it to do so but merely adding a style to an existing category.

Therefore the category was updated but no new folder appeared at finder level, and rightly so. Duh…

    Thanks for the help,

    Patrice
