Recently we’ve upgraded our Avid Xpress systems to Composer 3.0. The problem we are having concerns Boris 3GL. When we load previous timelines into Avid it will now allow us to access previously created Boris files. The timeline recognizes the content as being Boris but when we attempt to enter Red we are given the warning: These settings are not compatible with this version of Boris Red. Thanks for your help!

Sounds like you might be trying to open a Red 3 effect with Red 4.

Do you know specifically what version you came from and have installed now?

It’s Version 3.0 AVX 1.5 – I’m not certain if the software was updated previously but now isn’t after the re-install. We don’t have 4.0 currently although with the Composer upgrade we do now have Avid FX. Could FX be confusing it?

    Not sure to be honest.

Only way to find out would be to try uninstalling AvidFX.

Something is making it think there is a version mis-match.

Still not working even after uninstalling Avid FX. I’m guessing there was an update to 3GL I had installed at one point and now have no access to it. Or maybe 3GL just doesn’t work with Composer.

Shoot me an e-mail at mattm@borisfx.com

I can send you an FTP link for an update file for Red 3.0.4 we can see if that works.
